Your iPhone will soon be useful for more for cars than to answer calls and spice up music selection. The Bloomberg source claims Apple is developing technology codened “Ironheart” which will allow you to use your iPhone to control the climate system, radio, chair, and even cluster instruments. You don’t need to switch between carplay and carplay software (possibly clumsy) just to raise heat.
Ironheart is still early in development, according to Tipsers, and will require a partnership with the car brand. Apple has refused to comment.
Initiatives like this can expand the existence of Apple in cars that far exceed limited technology such as Carplay or newer Carkey features. Although it is not necessarily part of the electric car strategy that has long been rumored to be the company’s length, it can provide a company experience with more aspects of the car and assistance with the development of in-house vehicles.
