Google Maps gains new green navigation options

Google has announced several updates to Google Maps which will provide commuter sustainable navigation options. Google says the new navigation option will allow people to make a greener choice while traveling around. Updates include the ability to choose more fuel-efficient routes than others, updated cycling bike instructions, and bicycle sharing information and direct scooters in the Google Maps application.

Google said that vehicles that travel around the world produce 75 percent of all CO2 transportation emissions. It made the vehicle one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas pollution on the planet. The new Google Maps update aims to help reduce emissions. The new Google’s environmentally friendly routing option will get users to their destination as soon as possible and optimize the path for lower fuel consumption.

Not only more fuel-efficient options help people save gas money, it also reduces pollution in the atmosphere. The update uses AI and uses data from the Ministry of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Updates are currently launched in the US on Android and iOS devices. Next year, Google will roll up environmentally friendly routing capabilities to Europe and other countries.

Google has worked to improve navigation ability for cyclists through the map application. Over the past 12 months, the availability of cycling landings has increased by 98 percent throughout the world. The choice of new light navigation for cyclists allows users to see details about the route without saving the screen or entering the direction of turn-by-turn navigation.

Updates make progress on travel and update ETA information in real-time. Lightweight navigation for cyclists will be aired on the Android and iOS platform in the coming months. Google has confirmed that bicycle sharing information and scooters are available for 300 cities around the world. Bicycle sharing details and scooters are available in Android and iOS applications and support several bicycle sharing companies and scooters.
